I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Tiger's eye is one of the most striking stones in the mineral world. Its colour shifts between deep golden amber and cool blue-grey depending on the light, a phenomenon known as chatoyancy, produced by the fibrous structure within the stone that reflects light in a single band across the surface. High grade tiger's eye carries that effect with exceptional clarity, the silky lustre moving across the sphere as it catches the light from every angle.

At 20mm, the sphere has genuine presence. The smooth, polished surface draws out the full depth of the stone's banding and shimmer, a bold form without being decorative, grounded without being plain.

Tiger's eye has been carried as a stone of protection and clarity for thousands of years. Roman soldiers wore it in battle for courage and focus; it was used across ancient cultures as a ward against the evil eye and a stone of clear-sighted decision making. Today it is associated with confidence, mental strength, and grounded ambition. It is a stone that steadies the mind and sharpens intention, without force or noise.

The sphere is hand wire-wrapped, with the setting following the stone's natural curve and holding it securely while allowing its full surface to remain visible. The wrap is worked in sterling silver, its cool tone a considered complement to the interplay of gold and blue within the stone.

Finished on a 24 inch sterling silver rolo chain, a substantial, well-proportioned length that sits at the chest and wears well against the body. Made to be worn every day and kept for years.
