Welcome to Rachel Hartley Atelier

I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Turquoise is one of the oldest stones in continuous human use. Mined and worn for more than six thousand years, it appears in the burial jewellery of ancient Egypt, the ceremonial adornments of Native American cultures, the treasuries of Persian kings, and the prayer beads of Tibetan monks. Few stones have crossed so many borders, so many centuries, and so many traditions and remained, in each of them, a stone of significance. Its colour, that particular, irreducible blue-green that has no other name, is produced by the presence of copper within the stone's phosphate structure, and it varies from a pale, sky-washed aqua to a deep, saturated teal depending on the deposit and the mineral content of the surrounding rock.

Turquoise is associated with the throat chakra, and with the qualities of honest communication, inner calm, and grounded confidence. It is considered a stone of protection and good fortune across almost every culture that has worked with it, and a talisman for those who travel, physically, emotionally, or otherwise, and wish to do so with clarity and courage.

This ring features a vibrant round turquoise stone as its centrepiece, set within a sterling silver beaded surround. The band takes a V-shaped chevron form, a bold, geometric silhouette that gives the ring a distinctly bohemian character. Small, precisely placed silver beads line the chevron band, echoing the handcrafted quality of the piece. The sterling silver band sits comfortably on the finger with a weight that feels considered rather than heavy, and the bright silver finish lets the colour of the turquoise take centre stage.
