Welcome to Rachel Hartley Atelier

I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Rhodonite is a stone of quiet beauty and considerable depth. Its colour ranges from a warm, dusty rose to a deeper, more saturated pink, threaded throughout with veins of black manganese oxide that trace their way across the surface in patterns that are entirely its own. It is a stone that looks considered, as though nature arranged it deliberately.  The contrast between the soft pink and the dark inclusions giving each piece a character that no other stone quite replicates.

Rhodonite is a manganese silicate mineral, its pink hue produced by the manganese within its structure, the same element responsible for its characteristic black veining. It is found in Russia, Australia, Sweden, and Brazil, among other locations, and has been used as an ornamental stone for centuries. In Russia it was historically known as the eagle stone, said to be carried by eagles to their nests, and was used extensively in the imperial court as a stone of prestige and protection.

In crystal healing, rhodonite is considered above all a stone of the heart. It is associated with the heart chakra and is said to carry a particularly compassionate energy, one that supports emotional healing, encourages forgiveness, and helps to dissolve old wounds that have calcified into patterns. Where rose quartz opens the heart gently, rhodonite is thought to go deeper, working with the more complex emotional terrain of grief, resentment, and self-worth. It is a stone for those who are ready to do the quieter, more honest work of healing. It is also associated with purpose and passion, said to help the wearer identify their true calling and pursue it with clarity and confidence.

This pendant features a faceted rhodonite teardrop, its cut drawing out the full warmth of the stone’s colour and allowing light to move across its surface with a soft, glowing clarity. Wire wrapped by hand in sterling silver, the setting follows the natural contours of the stone, holding it securely while allowing its full face to remain visible. A single sterling silver accent bead sits within the wrap, a small, precise detail that brings a cool stillness to the piece and lifts the overall finish.

Finished on an 18 inch sterling silver fine curb chain, a classic, lightweight length that sits beautifully at the collarbone, worn alone or layered with other pieces from the collection.

Handcrafted at Rachel Hartley Atelier. Arrives gift-ready.
