I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

A pair of teardrop London blue topaz studs, each stone set in a sterling silver surround, worn close to the ear with a cool, considered presence. A blue that is immediate and particular, and entirely its own.

London blue topaz is a variety of topaz distinguished by its deep, inky blue, a colour that sits at the darker end of the blue topaz spectrum, richer and more saturated than sky or Swiss blue, with a steely depth that holds its intensity in any light. The colour is produced through a combination of irradiation and heat treatment, a process that enhances the natural blue of the stone and stabilises it permanently. AAA grade London blue topaz is selected for the depth and evenness of its colour, the quality of its clarity, and the precision of its cut, stones in which the blue is vivid and consistent, with no zoning or cloudiness to interrupt the colour.

Topaz is associated with the throat chakra, and London blue topaz in particular is considered a stone of clear communication, honest expression, and mental clarity. It is said to support those who need to articulate complex thoughts with precision, to speak with confidence, and to find the right words in difficult moments. It carries a calm, focused energy, cool rather than cold, clear rather than detached, and is considered a stone of truth and integrity.

Each stud centres on a single faceted teardrop London blue topaz, the elongated shape giving the earring an elegant, elongating quality at the ear. The cut draws out the full depth of the stone’s colour, its facets scattering light with a clean, refractive brilliance that shifts with every movement.
