Welcome to Rachel Hartley Atelier

I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Larimar is one of the rarest gemstones in the world, found in a single location on earth: a remote mountainous region of the Dominican Republic, where it occurs within ancient volcanic rock as a blue variety of pectolite. Its colour ranges from the palest sky blue to a deep, saturated Caribbean blue-green, patterned with white and grey markings that move across the surface like light on water. The finest stones carry a vivid, saturated blue with minimal white patterning, and their quality is determined by the depth and evenness of that colour. It is a stone that looks as though it has absorbed the sea and the sky in equal measure, and no two pieces are alike.

Larimar is associated with the throat chakra and the element of water. It is said to bring calm and clarity, to ease communication, and to carry a cooling, soothing energy that quiets anxiety and emotional turbulence. It has been called the Atlantis stone, connected in some traditions to the lost civilisation and to the healing wisdom of the ocean. Whether or not one holds to that mythology, the stone itself carries a quality of stillness that is difficult to ignore: serene, luminous, and deeply composed.

This ring centres on a single larimar stone cut in a generous oval measuring 35mm × 20mm, a striking, substantial form that gives the stone an open, expressive face and allows its full depth of colour and patterning to be read in full. At this scale, the stone commands attention: every cloud of white, every shift of blue-green, every wave-like marking becomes its own quiet landscape. Set in a polished sterling silver bezel that holds the stone securely while keeping its face completely unobstructed, the setting has a clean, confident presence that is both architectural and deeply wearable. The adjustable band is crafted in sterling silver and shaped to sit comfortably across a range of finger sizes. A true statement piece, and one refined enough to be worn every day.
