Welcome to Rachel Hartley Atelier

I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Tourmaline is one of the most compositionally complex gemstones in the mineral kingdom: a boron silicate mineral whose extraordinary range of colour results from trace elements shifting within its crystal structure during formation. It is found across the world, from the pegmatite deposits of Brazil and Afghanistan to the alluvial gravels of Sri Lanka and the mines of East Africa, and it is one of the few gemstones that occurs naturally in almost every colour of the spectrum. These earrings draw on that range deliberately, moving through the pinks and into the blues in a gradient that only genuine tourmaline can produce.

Each earring features a drop of faceted tourmaline beads, selected and sequenced to create a natural gradient from warm, blushed pinks at the top through to cooler, deeper blues at the base. The faceting catches the light with every movement, giving the drop a liveliness that smooth beads cannot match. The whole drop hangs from a sterling silver stud; clean, secure, and understated, keeping the focus entirely on the stones and the shift of colour through them. Sterling silver throughout.

Pink tourmaline is associated with the heart chakra, a stone of emotional warmth, compassion, and self-love, said to open the heart to connection and ease the weight of grief or anxiety. Blue tourmaline, known as indicolite, is associated with the throat and third eye chakras: a stone of clear communication, intuition, and inner truth, its cool depth carrying a stillness that balances the warmth of the pinks above. Together they form a gradient that moves from the heart to the mind, from feeling to knowing, a piece that carries both beauty and meaning.
