I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

A faceted amethyst cabochon, its surface cut to draw out the full depth of the stone’s violet, held in an 8mm sterling silver bezel cup on an adjustable band. Simple in its construction, and quietly striking in the wearing.

Amethyst is a variety of quartz, its signature colour produced by iron and natural irradiation within the crystal structure over millions of years. The result is a violet that ranges from the palest lavender to a deep, saturated purple, each stone finding its own place within that spectrum. The cabochon form, domed and polished rather than flat, allows light to gather within the stone and move across its surface, the faceting adding a precision and brilliance that catches the eye without demanding it. The bezel cup setting wraps the stone in a clean, continuous edge of silver, protecting it fully while keeping the focus on the stone itself.

Amethyst is one of the most revered stones in the crystal healing tradition, and one of the most ancient in human adornment. It has been worn by royalty, carried by soldiers, and placed in sacred spaces across cultures for thousands of years. It is associated with the crown and third eye chakras, encouraging wisdom, spiritual clarity, and the quieting of an overactive mind.
