I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

A pair of square cut amethyst studs, each stone set in a sterling silver surround, worn close to the ear with a calm, luminous presence. A purple that is deep and considered, and entirely its own.

Amethyst is one of the most beloved gemstones in the world, found across Brazil, Uruguay, Zambia, and Sri Lanka. Its rich violet-purple, the result of iron impurities and natural irradiation during crystallisation, has made it a stone of clarity, protection, and spiritual awareness for thousands of years. AAA grade amethysts are selected for exceptional depth and evenness of colour, clarity, and the quality of their cut; stones that hold their richness in any light.

Amethyst works primarily with the third eye and crown chakras, quieting the mind and opening the wearer to deeper intuition and inner knowing. It is one of the most calming of the purple stones, said to ease anxiety, support restful sleep, and encourage a sense of clarity and perspective. It is associated with wisdom, protection, and the ability to see situations with honesty and calm, a stone for those who seek stillness and truth.

Each stud centres on a single square cut amethyst, the clean geometry of the cut giving the earring a bold, considered quality at the ear. The faceted surface draws out the full depth of the stone’s colour, its flat planes and sharp angles scattering light with a cool, refractive brilliance that shifts with every movement. Set in a sterling silver surround that holds the stone securely while keeping its full face open to the light, and mounted on sterling silver earposts. Sterling silver throughout.
