I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Smokey quartz has a depth to it that is immediate and grounding. A rich, smoky brown somewhere between the warmth of dark amber and the cool clarity of shadow, a stone that draws the eye with quiet authority. The AAA grade stones used in this collection are selected for the intensity and evenness of their colour and the precision of their faceting.

Smokey quartz is a variety of quartz whose colour is produced by natural irradiation of aluminium impurities within the crystal structure. It is found across the world, from the high-altitude deposits of the Swiss Alps and the Cairngorm mountains of Scotland to the mines of Brazil and Madagascar. Associated with the root chakra, it is considered one of the most effective grounding stones in the mineral kingdom, a stone that transmutes negative energy, supports clarity of thought, and brings a calm, anchored sense of presence. It is a stone worn as much for what it does as for how it looks.

This ring is built around a sterling silver chevron band, its angled form clean and architectural, designed to sit beautifully alone or stacked. From it, a faceted oval AAA-grade smokey quartz, cut to catch the light at every angle, is suspended in fine silver wire wrapping, hanging like a charm from the band. The effect is delicate and considered; the stone moves with you, catching light as it goes.
