I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Seven hearts, each one cut from London blue topaz, set along a sterling silver chain. It is a bracelet with a clear point of view.

London blue topaz is one of the most precisely coloured stones in the gem world. A variety of topaz treated to achieve its characteristic deep, inky blue, a tone that sits somewhere between a stormy sky and the deepest part of the ocean. It is distinguished from other blue topaz varieties by the darkness and saturation of its colour. Sky blue topaz is pale and bright; Swiss blue is vivid and electric; London blue is deeper, cooler, and altogether more considered. It is a colour that holds its own in any light and that rewards close attention.

Topaz is associated with the throat and third eye chakras, and with the qualities of clarity, truth, and focused intention. It is considered a stone of communication and deep knowing, one that supports honest expression and the kind of clear-sighted thinking that cuts through noise. It is also, historically, a stone of protection and good fortune, worn across cultures as a talisman of strength and mental clarity.

The seven stones are faceted into hearts, a cut that draws out the full depth of the London blue and allows light to move through each stone with a quiet, refractive brilliance. Each heart is individually set within its own sterling silver cage; a considered setting that holds the stone securely while allowing light to enter from every angle, and that adds a layer of craft and material weight to the piece. The caged hearts are set along a sterling silver chain and finished with a lobster clasp, the bracelet sitting close to the wrist with a clean, considered elegance. The cool, precise tone of the sterling silver complements the deep blue of the topaz without competing with it.
