I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Lapis lazuli is one of the most storied stones in the world. Prized for thousands of years, ground into ultramarine pigment for the great painters of the Renaissance, and worn by the ancient Egyptians as a stone of wisdom and truth, it carries a depth of blue unlike any other gemstone. Its colour sits somewhere between midnight and ocean, flecked with the golden glints of pyrite that occur naturally within the stone, so that no two pieces are ever quite the same. Lapis has long been associated with wisdom, truth, and clear communication. It is said to work with the throat chakra, encouraging honest self-expression and a quiet confidence in one's own voice, and to support clarity of thought and a sense of inner calm.

This piece features a deep blue lapis lazuli teardrop, its smooth, polished surface holding the depth of the stone's colour in a single fluid shape. The pendant is set on a sterling silver bail accented with small sparkling stones, a touch of light against the deep blue that catches the eye as the piece moves. The teardrop hangs from an 18 inch sterling silver paperclip chain, a contemporary, considered link that gives the piece a modern edge while keeping the stone sitting close and present at the collarbone.
