I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

White jade is a stone with a long and quiet history, prized in Chinese tradition for thousands of years as a stone of purity, calm, and protection, worn close as a companion rather than simply an ornament. Its colour is soft and even, a milky white with a gentle translucency that holds light within rather than throwing it back, and no two stones are identical in tone or form. White jade has traditionally been associated with peace, clarity of mind, and emotional balance. It is said to filter out distraction, encouraging a steady, grounded calm, and to work with the heart chakra in a quiet, nurturing way, supporting stability and gentle self-acceptance that builds slowly and endures.

This piece centres on a drop of three white jade stones, each one wrapped by hand in gold vermeil wire. The setting follows the natural contours of each stone, and the three are gathered together into a twisted bail, the wire flowing from one stone to the next so that the drop hangs with a quiet symmetry and a warmth of metal against the cool of the stone. Because no two stones are alike in shape or character, each drop is a one of a kind piece, and the arrangement is entirely its own.

Set in gold vermeil; sterling silver with a thick layer of gold, gold vermeil is chosen here for its quality and its longevity, a step above plated jewellery and a considered alternative to solid gold. Finished on an 18 inch gold vermeil fine curb chain, the necklace sits at the collarbone, a length that works beautifully alone or as part of a layered arrangement.
