I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

The ocean has always held a particular kind of quiet and this necklace captures it.  A hand-finished sterling silver shell charm and a faceted blue apatite stone suspended together with each element chosen for the story it carries.

The shell is one of the oldest symbols in human adornment. Across cultures and centuries, it has represented protection, the journey of the soul, and the beauty of things shaped slowly by nature. Worn at the collarbone, it becomes a reminder of the world beyond the everyday, of coastlines, of stillness, of returning to yourself.

Blue apatite is a stone of rare, vivid clarity. Its colour ranges from the pale blue of shallow water to the deep teal of the open sea, and its faceted cut draws light into the stone from every angle, creating a brilliance that shifts with movement. Apatite is associated with inspiration, focus, and the clearing of mental fog.  It has long been regarded as a stone that encourages honest self-expression and the pursuit of personal truth. It is also one of the few gemstones that forms the mineral basis of human bone and tooth enamel, giving it an intimate, almost elemental connection to the body.

Finished on a sterling silver 18 inch fine curb chain, a clean, considered length that works equally well worn alone or layered. Refined enough for everyday wear, considered enough for an occasion.
