I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Pink tourmaline is one of the most sought after varieties of tourmaline, and among the most energetically potent of the pink stones. Found in pegmatite formations across Brazil, Afghanistan, and parts of Africa, its colour ranges from the palest blush to a deep, saturated rose, the result of manganese present during crystallisation.

High grade stones are selected for exceptional clarity, depth of colour, and the quality of their cut; stones that reward close attention.

Tourmaline has long been associated with protection and compassion. Pink tourmaline in particular works with the heart chakra, encouraging the kind of love that begins inward, self-acceptance, emotional courage, and the willingness to remain open even after difficulty. It is said to dissolve emotional pain held in the heart, to ease anxiety, and to support those moving through grief, transition, or the slow work of healing. It carries warmth without sentimentality.

These hoop earrings feature natural high-grade pink tourmaline stones wrapped with gold vermeil wire; sterling silver with a layer of solid 24K gold, with stacked gold vermeil flat spacers accenting each stone, adding a refined, layered detail to the wrap. Suspended from 20mm gold vermeil hoops, the warm gold tone draws out the rose and blush tones of the tourmaline in a pairing that feels both warm and refined.

The hoop is one of the oldest and most enduring forms in jewellery, worn across cultures and centuries, from ancient Egypt to the present day. Unbroken and continuous, it carries a quiet symbolism of wholeness and return. It is also simply one of the most flattering shapes an earring can take, framing the face without demanding attention, moving with the wearer, and working as well with a coat as it does with nothing at all. Some forms never go out of style because they were never really in it.
