Welcome to Rachel Hartley Atelier

I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Four tourmalines, four colours, one quietly extraordinary drop. Pink, orange, green and blue tourmalines are stacked together in a single drop, separated by gold vermeil micro beads that give the composition a clean, considered rhythm. Each stone has been chosen for the warmth and distinctness of its colour: the blush softness of pink, the radiant vivacity of orange, the fresh vitality of green, and the cool, deep calm of blue. Together they form a palette that moves through the spectrum with a naturalness only genuine gemstones can achieve. The drop is suspended from two gold vermeil rings and hangs from an 18 inch gold vermeil fine curb chain, a beautifully light, fluid chain that sits close to the collarbone and lets the drop do its work.

Tourmaline is one of the most compositionally complex minerals in the gemstone world, occurring naturally in almost every colour of the spectrum. Its colour is determined by trace elements shifting within its boron silicate crystal structure during formation, which is why a single deposit can yield stones of radically different hues. Pink tourmaline is associated with the Heart chakra and the energy of compassion, emotional warmth and self-love. Orange tourmaline, sometimes called Saffronite, carries the vitality and creativity of the Sacral chakra, encouraging joy, confidence and a sense of aliveness. Green tourmaline, or verdelite, resonates with the outward-facing expression of the Heart chakra: growth, renewal, courage and a grounded connection to the living world. Blue tourmaline, known as Indicolite, is one of the mineral's rarest expressions and is associated with the Throat and Third Eye chakras, supporting clear communication, inner truth, and heightened spiritual awareness.

Worn together, these four stones represent a full spectrum of heart-centred energy: love given and received, creative joy, the vitality of growth, and the clarity to speak and see truly.
