I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Some combinations of stones work because of what they share. These three share time.

Petrified wood is not a crystal in the conventional sense, it is ancient wood, transformed over millions of years as organic matter is slowly replaced by silica and mineral deposits, cell by cell, until what remains is stone. The process is one of the slowest in the natural world, and the energy it carries reflects that. Petrified wood is associated with deep patience, stability, and the wisdom that comes from endurance. It works with the root chakra, grounding the wearer in the present moment while connecting them to a sense of continuity that extends far beyond the immediate. It is a stone for those who need to slow down, to trust the process, and to remember that growth rarely announces itself.

Blue apatite brings a vivid, clarifying energy to the blend. Named from the Greek word for deceit, because it was so often mistaken for other stones. Apatite is itself entirely honest in its properties. It works with the throat chakra, encouraging clear expression, intellectual focus, and the kind of motivated thinking that cuts through confusion and finds direction. Where petrified wood asks you to be still, blue apatite asks you to be clear.

Selenite anchors the bracelet. Luminous and purifying, it is one of the few stones said to cleanse those around it, holding the energy of the whole piece in a state of clarity and light. Its high, fine vibration works with the crown chakra, creating the mental stillness in which both patience and clarity can take root.

Finished with sterling silver accent beads, their cool, precise tone a considered counterpoint to the earthy warmth of the petrified wood and the vivid blue of the apatite.
