Measuring your ring size at home is entirely possible, and with a little care, entirely accurate. Here is how to do it.
Before You Begin
A few things worth knowing before you measure. Fingers change size throughout the day as they tend to be slightly larger in the evening and in warm weather, and slightly smaller in the morning and in the cold. For the most reliable result, measure in the evening, at room temperature, when your fingers are at their most settled size. If you are between sizes, it is generally better to size up slightly, particularly for rings with wider bands, which tend to fit more snugly than narrow ones.
Method One: Using a Strip of Paper
This is the most reliable method for measuring at home, and requires nothing more than a narrow strip of paper, a pen, and a ruler.
Cut a strip of paper approximately 1cm wide and long enough to wrap around your finger. Wrap it snugly around the base of the finger you intend to wear the ring on, snug enough that it does not slip, but not so tight that it restricts circulation. Mark the point where the paper overlaps with a pen, then lay it flat against a ruler and measure the length in millimetres. This measurement is your finger circumference.

Method Two: Using an Existing Ring
If you already own a ring that fits the intended finger well, you can use it to find your size. Place the ring on a flat surface and measure the internal diameter; the distance across the inside of the band in millimetres. Use the chart below to find your corresponding UK size.
