I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

A carved green jade heart sits at the centre of this necklace, wrapped by hand in gold vermeil wire. The wire sweeps across the front of the heart in a delicate twirl, with three tiny gold vermeil beads before rising into the bail. An 18-inch fine gold curb chain completes the piece with an understated finish.

Jade has been cherished for centuries, especially in East Asian traditions, where it is associated with wisdom, harmony and good fortune. Green jade is often linked symbolically with renewal, growth and balance, its natural colour calling to mind the quiet freshness of the natural world. These are traditional associations rather than promises of what the stone can do, but they give this piece a meaning beyond its beauty.

The heart shape brings its own symbolism of love, compassion and connection. Together with the green jade, it makes this necklace a thoughtful gift for someone close to you, or a personal reminder to hold those qualities close.
