Welcome to Rachel Hartley Atelier

I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Softly lustrous Freshwater Pearls and faceted Peridot micro beads come together in these handcrafted drop earrings, framed by the warmth of Gold Vermeil. Arranged in a vertical drop, the beads are wrapped with Gold Vermeil wire that traces their contours, creating a flowing outline that follows the shape of each element.

The Freshwater Pearls bring a gentle glow to the design, complemented by the delicate green accents of Peridot. The tiny facets of the Peridot micro beads catch the light, adding subtle sparkle alongside the pearls’ softer lustre. This contrast gives the earrings an intricate character without overwhelming their elegant, elongated form.

Rather than concealing the beads within a heavy setting, the wirework follows their curves, making the wrapping an integral part of the design. The warm golden lines draw the eye down each drop, bringing the pearls and Peridot together in a composition that feels both delicate and expressive. Suspended from Gold Vermeil ear wires, the drops introduce gentle movement as you wear them.

In gemstone traditions, Freshwater Pearls are associated with wisdom, sincerity and serenity. Often chosen to symbolise patience and personal growth, they offer a thoughtful reminder that beauty can develop gradually, through time and experience. Their enduring appeal makes them a meaningful choice for a gift or a piece of jewellery marking a personal milestone.

Peridot is traditionally associated with renewal, optimism and abundance. Its fresh green colour is often linked symbolically with growth, encouraging an outlook of openness and the willingness to welcome a new chapter. Paired with the pearls’ associations with reflection and wisdom, it creates a combination that can represent moving forward while valuing the experiences that have shaped you.

These gemstone meanings are traditional and symbolic rather than scientifically established healing effects, allowing you to enjoy the earrings for their beauty and whatever personal significance they hold.

Gold Vermeil combines a Sterling Silver foundation with a substantial layer of gold, offering a precious-metal base beneath its warm golden finish. It is not solid gold and benefits from gentle care to preserve its appearance. Here, the Gold Vermeil wire and ear wires complement the pearls and Peridot, giving the design a cohesive finish.

Wear them with an open neckline to let the vertical drops stand out, or pair them with simple gold jewellery for an understated, coordinated look. Equally suited to a special occasion or bringing a little detail to everyday dressing, these earrings celebrate the contrast between soft pearl lustre, faceted green gemstones and flowing golden wirework.

To care for your earrings, avoid contact with perfume, lotions and cleaning products, and remove them before showering or swimming. Store separately in a soft pouch and gently wipe with a soft, non-abrasive cloth after wear, avoiding abrasive polishes that could damage the pearls or gold finish.
