I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Aquamarine is the blue variety of beryl, its colour ranging from the palest ice blue to a deeper, more saturated sea blue, the result of iron present during crystallisation. It is found in pegmatite formations across Brazil, Pakistan, Madagascar, and parts of Africa, and has been prized for millennia, worn by sailors as a talisman of safe passage and by healers as a stone of clarity and calm. Aquamarine works primarily with the throat chakra, supporting clear, honest, and compassionate communication. It is said to help those who struggle to find the right words, to speak their truth without fear, and to listen with the same openness. It carries a cooling, clarifying energy that is thought to quiet an overactive mind, encouraging a sense of flow and ease rather than resistance.

This piece features a vibrant blue aquamarine hexagonal prism, its naturally formed original crystalline shape preserved exactly as the earth created it. The six-sided column is a rare thing to find in a finished piece, the geometry not cut into the stone by human hands but grown into it over millions of years, and no two prisms are identical in form, tone, or depth of colour. The crystal is wrapped by hand in sterling silver, the wire following the natural contours of the prism and holding it securely while allowing its full depth of colour to remain visible. Sterling silver micro beads accent the design, small, precise details that frame the stone and draw the eye inward to the crystal itself. And, with a little imagination, the pendant has the charming silhouette of a miniature perfume bottle, as though it holds a drop of the sea.

Suspended from a 24-inch sterling silver rolo chain, the pendant hangs lower on the neckline, a length that works beautifully alone or as part of a layered arrangement. Because the crystal is a natural formation, the pendant is a one of a kind piece, and the prism you see is the only one of its kind.
