I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Azurite is one of the most intensely coloured stones in the mineral world. A copper carbonate mineral formed by the weathering of copper ore deposits, its deep, saturated blue ranges from a rich royal to an almost violet-tinged indigo, and has been prized since antiquity, ground into pigment for the blues of medieval manuscripts and Renaissance paintings, and worn as a stone of vision and insight across ancient Egypt and Greece. The colour is entirely natural, produced by the stone's own chemistry, and no two beads are identical.

Azurite is associated with the third eye and throat chakras, and is considered a stone of deep inner vision, mental clarity, and spiritual insight. It is said to stimulate intuition, dissolve confusion, and support the kind of focused, expansive thinking that allows new perspectives to emerge. It is a stone for those who seek to understand themselves, their circumstances, and the patterns that shape both.

This pendant features four faceted azurite beads held in a sterling silver cage wrap, with micro sterling silver beads interspersed between each stone. The cage holds the beads in a considered, structured arrangement that allows the full depth of the azurite's colour to remain visible from every angle, the silver wire coiling around the stones in deliberate, even coils. The cool, precise tone of the sterling silver sits in close harmony with the deep blue of the azurite, a pairing that is quietly striking.

Finished on an 18 inch sterling silver fine curb chain, a classic, lightweight length that sits beautifully at the collarbone, worn alone or layered with other pieces from the collection.
