Welcome to Rachel Hartley Atelier

I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Green amethyst, known in the gem trade as prasiolite, is a variety of quartz whose pale, cool green is produced by the heat treatment of naturally occurring amethyst or yellow quartz. The colour it yields is unlike any other green in the mineral kingdom: not the saturated depth of emerald or the vivid brightness of peridot, but something quieter and more considered, a soft, translucent green with a glassy clarity that allows light to pass through it with an almost watery luminosity. The finest stones are selected for the evenness of their colour and the quality of their clarity, stones that hold the light rather than simply reflecting it. It is found primarily in Brazil and Poland, and while it is less widely known than its violet counterpart, it has a particular quality of elegance that rewards those who seek it out.

Green amethyst shares many of the metaphysical associations of purple amethyst, working with the crown and third eye chakras to support clarity, calm, and spiritual awareness. Its green hue also connects it to the heart chakra, giving it a bridging quality between the mind and the emotions, between clarity of thought and openness of feeling. It is said to support those who are working to align their inner truth with their outer expression, to bring a quality of gentle, clear-eyed compassion to whatever they turn their attention to. A stone of considered stillness.

This ring centres on a large oval green amethyst, faceted to draw out the full luminosity of the stone, the cut allowing light to enter and move through it with a soft, shifting clarity. The setting is built around a split band in polished sterling silver: two bands that run down either side of the stone, framing it cleanly before meeting and joining at the base of the finger in a single point. The construction gives the ring an architectural quality, the stone held as though suspended between the two arms of the band, its full face open to the light. It is a design that is both structural and elegant, the geometry of the band in considered proportion to the generous oval of the stone. A statement piece with the restraint to be worn every day.

This ring is a size P.
