I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Amethyst is a variety of quartz, its colour the result of iron impurities within the crystal lattice, shifted by natural irradiation into the violet range that has made it one of the most recognised and sought-after gemstones in the world. Its colour ranges from the palest lilac to a deep, saturated purple, and the cabochon cut keeps the surface smooth and domed, allowing the full depth and movement of the colour to be read without interruption. Where a faceted cut scatters light, the cabochon holds it, giving the stone a quiet, luminous presence that rewards close attention.

Amethyst is associated with the third eye and crown chakras, with clarity of mind, spiritual awareness, and the quieting of mental noise. It is said to support calm and focus, to ease anxiety and restlessness, and to bring a quality of clear, unhurried perception to those who wear it. It has long been associated with protection and the ability to transmute lower energies into higher ones, and carries a quality of gentle authority: composed, luminous, and deeply considered.

The pendant is set in sterling silver with a setting that follows the oval form of the stone, holding it securely while keeping the full face of the cabochon open to the light. Paired with an 18 inch sterling silver fine curb chain, a classic, understated chain that sits close to the collarbone and lets the pendant speak for itself. Sterling silver throughout.
