Welcome to Rachel Hartley Atelier

I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Labradorite is one of the most visually extraordinary stones in the mineral world. A member of the feldspar family, it forms in igneous rock and carries within it a phenomenon known as labradorescence, a vivid, shifting play of colour that moves across the surface of the stone as it catches the light. Blues, greens, golds, and occasionally violet and copper flash from within the stone as the angle changes, a spectral quality that seems almost impossible for something pulled from the earth. The effect is entirely natural, the result of light refracting between the thin layers of mineral within the crystal structure.

Labradorite is associated with the third eye chakra and long held as a stone of transformation, intuition, and protection. It is said to strengthen the aura, deflecting unwanted energies while enhancing the wearer’s own inner knowing. It is a stone for those who trust their instincts, or who are learning to, thought to heighten perception, support psychic awareness, and encourage a deeper connection to one’s own truth. It works quietly, and its effects tend to build over time.

Freshwater pearls share a different kind of magic. Grown within molluscs in rivers and lakes, each pearl forms around a small irritant, the shell building layer upon layer of nacre until something luminous emerges. No two are identical in shape or surface. They carry a long association with purity, patience, and emotional wisdom, a softness that balances the more electric energy of the labradorite beautifully.

These earrings feature a drop of freshwater pearl beads, faceted labradorite beads, and round disc-shaped labradorite beads, spaced with sterling silver accent beads. The labradorite flashes as the earrings move, the pearls bring a soft, organic lustre, and the disc beads add a considered structural detail that ties the design together. The whole drop hangs from sterling silver round earwires, a clean, classic finish that keeps the focus on the stones.

Handcrafted at Rachel Hartley Atelier. Arrives gift-ready.
