I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Amethyst is one of the most beloved gemstones in the world, and one of the most ancient. Worn by Egyptian pharaohs, set into the rings of medieval bishops, carried as a talisman against intoxication and excess.  It has been prized across cultures and centuries for its colour, its clarity, and its quiet authority. It is a variety of quartz, its violet hue the result of iron impurities and natural irradiation within the crystal lattice, ranging from the palest lilac to a deep, saturated purple.

In its raw, natural form, amethyst is something else entirely. The crystal points grow in clusters, each one catching light at its own angle, the surface unpolished and alive with texture. Shaped into a heart, the raw cluster retains all of that natural energy and character and the form of the heart gives it an intentionality that feels both ancient and entirely personal.

Amethyst is associated with calm, clarity, and spiritual protection. It is said to work with the crown and third eye chakras, quieting an overactive mind and encouraging a deeper, more restful state of being. It is one of the most widely used stones in meditation and sleep practices, held to ease anxiety, support emotional balance, and create a sense of peaceful clarity. It is also a stone of intuition, of trusting what you know, even when you cannot fully explain it.

This bangle features a raw amethyst heart cluster set onto a silver plated adjustable bangle, the cool silver tone a natural complement to the violet of the stone. The bangle is open-ended and fully adjustable, designed to be worn at the wrist or slid higher up the arm, a versatile piece that sits differently depending on the mood and the moment.

The metal base is plated with 1000 silver in a layer of 30 thousandths, free from cadmium, lead, and other heavy metals; the best quality plating available, ensuring excellent durability, strong resistance, and a finish that sits close to fine jewellery.
