I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Moonstone carries a quality of light that is unlike any other stone. A soft, billowing luminescence known as adularescence moves beneath the surface as the stone shifts in the light, giving it an almost liquid quality, as though the moon itself has been caught inside the crystal. It is one of the most quietly captivating stones in the natural world.

Moonstone is a feldspar mineral; its optical phenomenon results from light scattering between alternating layers of albite and orthoclase within the stone. It has long been associated with intuition, emotional balance, and the rhythms of the natural world. It is a stone of the divine feminine, thought to heighten sensitivity, support inner clarity, and encourage a gentle, receptive awareness. Moonstone works with the crown and third eye chakras, and is often held as a stone for those seeking deeper self-understanding or navigating times of transition and change.

This set brings together two gold-filled sparkle stacking bands, their textured surfaces catching the light with a warm, subtle shimmer. Across the face of both bands, five small faceted moonstone beads are wrapped in gold vermeil wire, binding the two rings together into a single, considered piece. The moonstones sit in a gentle row, their adularescent glow softened by the warmth of the gold, creating a pairing that feels both delicate and intentional.

Worn together as designed, they sit as one cohesive ring.

Gold filled is also known as rolled gold.  It comprises a solid layer of 14k gold permanently bonded to a base metal such as brass. The minimum gold layer must be at least 1/20 of the item's total weight, making it substantially more durable than gold plate. Under normal wear, the gold will not peel or flake, and it is widely regarded as a hard-wearing, economical alternative to pure gold.
