I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Opalite is a man-made glass, crafted to capture the ethereal, colour-shifting quality of natural Opal. Against light it glows a milky, luminous white; against dark it reveals a soft blue-violet iridescence, a material that seems to hold light rather than simply reflect it. Its beauty is gentle and otherworldly, and it is precisely this quality that has made it a beloved stone in crystal healing practice.

Despite its man-made origins, Opalite is widely used as a healing stone and carries a well-established energetic tradition. It is associated with transitions and change, believed to ease the emotional weight of life's turning points, whether that is a new beginning, an ending, or the uncertain space in between. It is a stone of calm perseverance, thought to support the wearer through periods of upheaval with a steady, gentle energy.

Opalite is also associated with communication, particularly the expression of feelings that are difficult to articulate. The Opalite point form amplifies and directs the stone's energy, its termination focusing intention with clarity and purpose. Wire-wrapped in gold vermeil; sterling silver with a layer of 18 karat gold and hung on an 18 inch fine curb chain, it sits beautifully at the collarbone , luminous, considered, and quietly special.
