Welcome to Rachel Hartley Atelier

I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Amazonite is a variety of potassium feldspar, its colour produced by trace amounts of lead and water within its crystal structure, a combination that yields one of the most distinctive greens in the mineral kingdom. It ranges from a pale, milky mint to a deep, saturated blue-green, often patterned with white streaks and veining that move across the surface like light through shallow water. The finest stones carry a vivid, even colour with a smooth, waxy lustre, and the variation within each piece gives it a quality that is entirely its own. Despite its name, amazonite is not found in the Amazon basin; the name is thought to derive from confusion with other green stones found in the region. It is mined primarily in Brazil, Russia, Ethiopia, and the United States, and has been used as an ornamental stone since antiquity, found in the tombs of ancient Egypt and among the treasures of Tutankhamun.

Amazonite is associated with the heart and throat chakras, a pairing that gives it a particular quality among healing stones: it is said to support both emotional truth and the ability to express it. It is considered a stone of calm and clarity, said to soothe anxiety and emotional turbulence, to encourage honest communication, and to help the wearer set clear boundaries from a place of compassion rather than fear. It carries a cooling, balancing energy, and is often described as the stone of courage and truth, supporting those who need to speak their mind with both honesty and kindness.

This pendant features a faceted amazonite teardrop, its cut drawing out the full depth of the stone's colour and allowing light to move across its surface with a soft, luminous clarity. Wire wrapped by hand in gold vermeil, the setting follows the natural contours of the stone, holding it securely while allowing its full face to remain visible. A single gold vermeil accent bead sits within the wrap, a small, precise detail that brings warmth and finish to the piece. The warm gold of the vermeil sits in considered contrast to the cool blue-green of the amazonite, a pairing that is both striking and refined.

Finished on an 18 inch gold vermeil fine curb chain, a classic, lightweight length that sits beautifully at the collarbone, worn alone or layered with other pieces from the collection. Set in gold vermeil; sterling silver with a thick layer of 24K gold, chosen for its quality and longevity, a step above plated jewellery and a considered alternative to solid gold.

Handcrafted at Rachel Hartley Atelier. Arrives gift-ready.
