I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Pink opal is a gentle and relatively rare variety of common opal, found primarily in the Andes mountains of Peru. Unlike the fiery play of colour seen in precious opal, pink opal is prized for its soft, opaque blush; a quiet, milky rose that carries a warmth entirely its own.

No two stones are identical in tone, ranging from the palest petal pink to a deeper, more saturated rose depending on the individual piece.

It is a stone deeply associated with the heart. Pink opal is said to work softly and steadily, encouraging emotional healing, self-compassion, and the gentle release of old grief or anxiety that has been held for too long. It is thought to soothe the nervous system, to ease worry, and to support a sense of inner peace that feels grounded rather than forced. It works primarily with the heart chakra, and is considered one of the most nurturing stones available.

Pink opal is particularly associated with renewal, the kind that happens quietly, over time, without announcement.
