I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Malachite is one of the most visually distinctive stones in the mineral world. Its deep, banded greens, ranging from near-black to a vivid, almost luminous emerald, are the result of copper carbonate hydroxide forming in concentric layers over thousands of years. No two beads are identical; the banding shifts and curves differently in each stone.

Malachite is associated with transformation, protection, and the heart. It is said to work with the heart chakra, drawing out and absorbing negative energies and encouraging emotional growth and resilience. It is often held as a stone of change, one that supports those moving through transition, amplifying both the courage to let go and the clarity to move forward. It is also a deeply protective stone, long used as a talisman against harm.

Pyrite is malachite’s perfect counterpart. Known as Fool’s Gold, it is anything but foolish, its faceted surfaces catch and return light with a brilliance that is entirely its own, a warm, metallic flash that sits beautifully against the deep green of the malachite. Pyrite is associated with confidence, willpower, and the solar plexus chakra. It is said to strengthen the sense of self, encouraging decisive action and a grounded, practical energy. Together, malachite and pyrite offer a pairing of heart and will, feeling and doing, in balance.

These earrings feature three malachite beads, faceted pyrite beads and gold filled accent beads, hand strung and finished on gold filled ear wires. The gold fill; a thick layer of solid gold bonded to a base metal, gives the warmth and finish of fine jewellery with excellent durability for everyday wear.
