I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

There is a stillness to Amethyst that announces itself quietly. Its deep violet, clear and unhurried, carries a sense of calm authority, a stone that does not need to compete for attention. This necklace features an emerald-cut Amethyst of 4 to 6 carats, set in sterling silver, suspended from an 18-inch sterling silver flat cable chain.  Its long, stepped facets draw the eye into the depth of the stone rather than scattering the light.  

Amethyst is a variety of quartz, coloured by trace amounts of iron and aluminium within its crystal structure. The emerald cut, with its characteristic rectangular form and parallel step facets, is a cut that rewards clarity and depth of colour above all else, making it a particularly fine choice for Amethyst, where the richness of the violet is the stone’s greatest asset. At 4 to 6 carats, the stone has genuine presence at the neckline, substantial without being heavy, refined without being understated.
