I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Topaz is a silicate mineral found in pegmatite formations across Brazil, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Russia. Blue topaz is produced through irradiation treatment applied to natural topaz, a standard and permanent process that draws out the stone's latent colour. The result ranges from the palest sky blue to the deeper, more saturated tones of Swiss and London blue. It is a stone of considerable clarity, its colour clean and even, with a brightness that comes not from surface treatment but from the quality of the crystal itself.

Blue topaz is associated with the throat chakra, the energy centre governing communication, truth, and self-expression. It is said to support those who struggle to articulate what they feel, to speak with clarity, honesty, and without the interference of anxiety or self-doubt. More broadly, it carries a quality of calm and mental openness, encouraging clear thinking and a sense of ease. A stone that quiets the noise rather than adding to it.

The heart is the oldest symbol of what it means to feel. Not only love in its romantic sense, but the full range of what the heart holds; compassion, courage, tenderness, and the willingness to remain open. A heart pendant carries intention quietly. It is a piece that means something, whether given or chosen for oneself.

This pendant features a blue topaz heart, smooth and polished, its surface catching the light with a soft, even luminosity. Set in sterling silver, it is paired with an 18 inch sterling silver heart link chain, each link formed in the shape of a heart, so that the theme of the pendant continues through the chain itself. The result is a piece with a considered coherence, the stone and the setting speaking the same language. A length that sits at the collarbone, keeping the pendant close and present.
