Welcome to Rachel Hartley Atelier

I am delighted to introduce my new home for handcrafted artisan gemstone jewellery, where every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of exceptional gemstones.

I’m Rachel Hartley, founder and jewellery designer of Rachel Hartley Atelier. With years of experience studying and working with the healing properties and energy of crystals, my knowledge of gemstone selection extends beyond aesthetics. Each stone is chosen not only for its beauty and individuality, but also for the qualities it is believed to embody.

Every design begins with the gemstone. I work with carefully selected stones, combining them with sterling silver, gold vermeil, and copper to create jewellery that is both timeless and deeply personal.

Each piece is handcrafted in my studio with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that every creation reflects the care, skill, and intention invested in its making. This is not mass-produced jewellery. It is created slowly, one piece at a time, for those who value authenticity, craftsmanship, and meaningful design.

Amethyst is a variety of quartz, its violet colour the result of iron and natural irradiation present during crystallisation. Found across Brazil, Uruguay, Zambia, and South Korea, it has been prized for millennia, worn by ancient Greeks as a talisman against intoxication, used by medieval European soldiers as a stone of protection, and placed in the tombs of Egyptian pharaohs. AAA grade amethyst is selected for exceptional depth and evenness of colour, clarity, and the quality of its cut, stones that hold their richness across all light conditions.

Amethyst works primarily with the crown and third eye chakras, supporting intuition, clarity of mind, and a deepened connection to inner wisdom. It is one of the most widely used stones for meditation and spiritual work, said to quiet mental noise, ease anxiety, and create a sense of calm clarity in those who wear or work with it. It is associated with protection, purification, and the ability to see situations clearly without the distortion of fear or emotion. A stone for those who are seeking stillness, perspective, or a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them.

The flower is one of the oldest symbols in human culture, associated across traditions with beauty, growth, and the natural cycles of opening and renewal. In many spiritual traditions the flower form carries additional meaning, its radial symmetry echoing the structure of mandalas and the unfolding of consciousness. Worn as jewellery, a flower pendant carries something quietly optimistic: a reminder that growth is the natural state of things.

Clear topaz, placed at the centre, acts as a point of light and focus. Associated with clarity, truth, and the amplification of intention, it brings a brightness to the heart of the piece that complements the depth of the surrounding amethyst. Together they form a considered pairing: calm and clarity, depth and light.

This pendant features five AAA grade faceted amethyst stones arranged as the petals of a flower, with a central clear topaz stone at its heart. The deep violet of each amethyst catches the light differently as the pendant moves, while the clear topaz draws the eye to the centre. Set in sterling silver on an 18 inch flat cable chain, a length that sits at the collarbone, keeping the pendant close and present.
